Steve has engaged in entertaining discussions each of the past several years with six-time space shuttle pilot Colonel (Ret.) Curt Brown and other former astronauts at the annual Wings of the North AirExpo. The emphasis with Curt and other astronauts is on impressing upon youth in the audience the magic of engineering, math and science as a rewarding career and the importance of engineers, mathematicians and scientists to our nation’s economic growth and national security. |

Steve meets regularly with local youth as a motivational speaker on the importance of a college education and to assist in the preparation of a plan, unique to each student, to secure admission to the appropriate top colleges and universities for their chosen field of study and future career. |

On May 11, 2011, Steve Chicoine addressed approximately one hundred students of color at a local high school as the prelude to a new initiative on which he is embarking to mentor young men, who will or could be the first generation of their family to attend college. The emphasis will be on helping each of them to find their passion, research their possible future, develop a vision and create a realistic and manageable plan for post-secondary education and beyond. |

He spoke to the students of Cass Lake High School on the Cass Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota on the importance of establishing a vision for one's life and goal-setting as a means to success. |

Mr. Chicoine annually moderates veterans' sessions at Minnesota's Wings of the North Air Show. He has enjoyed the company of World War Two bomber pilots, Tuskegee Airmen and modern-day era astronauts. |

He is a member of the Board of Directors of The Harold C. Deutsch World War II History Roundtable and from time to time moderates sessions. Among these have been an evening on the liberation of the Nazi camps by American forces at the end of the war and another on the role of the OSS in the war. |
